I think Jenny McCarthy needs to be stopped. I have recently watched this woman spill her BS on various talk shows. It seems she goes into these discussions wanting to start a fight.
Maybe a petition is needed to ban this woman from speaking about autism. Because. Honestly, she's an idiot.
She speaks about how she has "healed" her son of autism, implying he no longer has it. Well, that's wrong. He most certainly does. He is still (and always will be) autistic. There is no cure for autism. None. I also believe she gives false hope to parents who are desperate to help their children and are willing to try just about anything.
My youngest was diagnosed this year with PDD-NOS (pervasisve developmental disorder - not otherwise specified). Not classic autism, but it is on the spectrum. He first walked when he was almost 2 and he has a speech delay. He likes to watch the wheels on his cars and truck spin (and has a fascination with just about anything that spins; watching a merry-go-round start up is an event for him). His eye contact wasn't always dead-on as well. but, since he started working with the Early Intervention program earlier this year, he's made great strides. He speaks more (still delayed, but it's much more than he was saying before), he plays with his siblings now and shows affection. Now, with all of this, is he still on the spectrum? Yep! And he always will be.
